Jobs Description :

 The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”), a non-aligned, independent, and non-governmental organization that works to promote and protect democracy and respect for human rights –primarily civil and political rights – throughout the Kingdom of Cambodia, is seeking a dynamic and professional Cambodian to fill the position of Campaign Officer for the Advancing Access to Information Project.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Coordinator to plan and implement the Project and ensure the Project realizes its aims;
  • Conduct field monitoring and media monitoring of violations of access to information and press freedom cases;
  • Develop written and multimedia information including awareness raisings/educational modules on access to information and press freedom;
  • Organize and facilitate the Project’s radio talk shows;
  • Organize project events including awareness raising, launching and photo exhibition and any relevant project events;
  • Conduct yearly campaign on the cases relating to press freedom and access to information as set in the Project’s objective;
  • Produce profiling of key actors working on press freedom and access to information;
  • Work closely with the project coordinator to develop evidence based advocacy relating to press freedom and access to information at both the local and international level;
  • Assist the project coordinator to draft the report to donor and other project publications; and
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Project Coordinator and the organization.

 

Job Requirment :

  • University degree in human rights, law, social sciences or a related subject;
  • At least two years’ experience of providing project support, leading campaign, organizing and conducting events related to access to information and press freedom; 
  • Experience in developing awareness raisings/educational modules on access to information and press freedom, and facilitating awareness raising sessions to different beneficiaries;
  • Experience in leading campaign and advocacy relating to access to information and press freedom;
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights and human rights defenders/activists and journalists;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Khmer and English;
  • Knowledge of international and domestic law related to freedom of expression, access to information, press freedom and human rights;
  • Strong computer literacy (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, of the Internet and e-mail);
  • Be able to work independently and in a team with high levels of responsibility;
  • Be able to share knowledge and experiences of work within the team work and work independently;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure on challenging and sensitive issues; and
  • Ability to think strategically; and experience in report writing.
